Layla( And Other Assorted Love Songs) / Who plays what? (Original post September 25, 2007)

Rolling Stone magazine gave this album only a lukewarm welcome. It went unnoticed for nearly six months. Six months later Layla was like the national anthem.R.S. mag did ask the question that music fans would ask for years: Who plays what? When is it Eric Clapton and when is it Duane Allman? Duane answered the question with this statement: " For anybody who don't know and cares enough about it to know that, I play the Gibson, Eric plays the Fender. If you can tell between a Gibson and a Fender, then you'll know who played what." (from Scott Freeman's book: Midnight Riders (the story of the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND).

The Story Behind For What It's Worth (and why I'm confused)...

This song was up for vote as "Class Song" in my high school in 1972. I still think that the votes were there, but the administration (The Man) vetoed it. We got "Where Do We Go From Here" by Chicago. That's like the worst freakin' song they ever did!

20 years later, I was training a guy at work and I asked him if he was related to a girl that I went to school with. The next day, he came in and told me that his sister remembered me and that I was a "hippie"!
A "hippie"? I was far from a "hippie"! Just because I had long hair and wore denim did not define me as such. I had no concern for politics, except for the fact that my ass did not get drafted and sent to Viet Nam! By the way, my draft number was like 364. My musical tastes, although varied, tended to be "Southern Rock". If I had any "anthem", it would be "Sweet Home Alabama" (take that Neil Young LOL).

To (why I'm confused). Some of the commentary on this video just doesn't make any sense to me.
@2:36 "They want everyone to do the same thing, and live their own life. They want you to grow up and get an education and raise children and die"???
@2:55 "Because you don't have a job. Because you don't have a direction, you're not doing anything...yada yada not part of society"???
@4:22 "It's the older generation that doesn't know what life is about"??????? Damn, skippy!!!

Near the end of the video, David Geffen chimed in with the truest comment of all. " I saw $$$ signs".
Take what you will from this commentary. It's all the same nonsense, in my opinion.
As George Carlin said: "It's a big club, and you ain't in it!"

God's gonna cut you down

Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man.

But as sure as God made black and white
What's done in the dark will be brought to light.

History Is In My Blood.

My father's middle name was Meriwether, as his father before him. I have always known that my bloodlines ran deep through the veins of American history. I am related to Meriwether Lewis by the fact that the progenitor of everything after, Nicholas Meriwether I, arrived in Virginia in the early 1600's. When I first got on a computer about 10 years ago, I spent hours pouring over genealogy records. I found it very easy, as my great grandfather had already done the leg work over 100 years ago. When I contacted The Meriwether Society via email, they were flabbergasted. Unknown to me, my great grandfather had written the first definitive book on "Nicholas Meriwether Of Wales" in 1899. One of the officers of the society sent me an email that read something like this. "For years, we have kept one copy of your GGF's book. We never knew why? Now we do." They sent me that book.

Oops, I've Done It Again...

I don't know what it is with me and computers?
The first day that I got one, so many years ago, an AOL box popped up and asked me to verify my password. Of course, I did! Then I remembered something... WE WILL NEVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD! So in a panic, I called and was told to immediately change my password!
Another time, after trying to set up a new computer, I chose the first (410) number I saw as my dial up #. Every time I (and my daughter) got on line, we were dialing Annapolis, MD. 😂! I can laugh about it now. Not so much back then, when I owed a $300 long distance bill!!!
So today, thinking that my computer was running a bit slow, I decided to delete "my history". It didn't seem to speed it up any, but what it did do was sign me out of my saved passwords! No problem with fb; only had to sign back in. Blogger was a different story! Long story short: I was able to retrieve access to ATGR (Thank God I have a good memory, when it comes to pw's), but now I now have two blogger accounts! Hell, maybe I'll start another blog?! Then again, maybe I'll just leave well enough alone...
The only collateral damage is that I can no longer post you tube videos directly, so hopefully this will work?!
I think I need a drink!!!
