This ain't the radio version, my friends!

"The Man in Black"

Born on this day in 1932.

STFU!!!

So many times, I have wanted to insert this in my comment on a particular blog and to a particular poster. Narrow-minded and run-of-the-mill would be more like it!

Who the hell thinks this shit up?

Jokes, I mean?

This is classic. And the video with the chimps just adds a cherry to the sundae.

(oops! forgot the title).

I use to feign sickness anytime T.V. Guide said that Ernest T. Bass was "coming to town". My mom would keep me home from school, set me up on the couch with a remote in one hand and a crushed ice with o.j. in the other. I don't know why I was so enthralled with this misfit. Maybe, I felt a little like a misfit growing up, myself. Maybe, I liked the fact that he did what he wanted to do; irregardless of what society expected. I'm pretty much like that.

Internet World.

That (Tom Petty) video that I posted yesterday got me to thinking.

I found that video several years ago and posted it on my blog. When I joined fb
a couple years ago, I "friended" the girl drummer. I don't know her. I have never met her. I have never spoken to her. But, she is one of my "friends" in the internet world.

Out of the 180 friends on my facebook page, 30 are due to the world of the internet.

Sixteen are the direct result of me starting this blog in 2007. Because of afterthegoldrush, I have met numerous other bloggers. 2 I would consider friends. 14 would be "friends".

Five "friends" were acquired via dating sites. I met with two of the girls in person, but neither one of us 'felt the Earth move'.

Four would be 'friends of friends'; 3 of which I would not know if I passed them on the street!

Add 3 Minor League Baseball team mascots and a syndicated radio sports talk guru (Vic "The Brick" Jacobs) and I have come to the realization that close to 20% of my friends are because of the Internet World.

It is what it is!

Happy President's Day!

I'm not so sure that I could accomplish the task of naming all the U.S. Presidents in order. I used to be able to do it years ago, but there were less Presidents and more brain cells at the time.
This kid is so cute. He gets mixed up several times through the memorization, mostly due to the fact that we have had several repeated surnames.
One other thing. Did he stumble at the end, or was he the first to make an endorsement for 2012?

Sunday Message.

Luke 6:31.

Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Sr. (1951-2001).

I remember watching the Daytona 500 ten years ago this weekend. I had become a Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan a few years earlier, due to the fact that my entire extended family were (big) fans and I liked the way that he drove: no fear. He also seemed like a good dude. The kind that you have a beer with, and shoot the shit.
On the final lap, Dale was running in the top 5 and took it upon himself to run interference for his teammate(s)(M. Waltrip) and son(Jr.). Waltrip won and Jr. came in second. Sr. took that picture, unfolding in front of him, to his hereafter.

***Only leave a comment if you (actually) watch the video. It is a "life lesson" wrapped up in a 5 minute photo montage with words of wisdom from both Dale, Sr. and Garth Brooks.

Happy Valentine's Day...

It is funny how women change over the years.
When I was in my twenties, it was 'what can ya do for me tonight?'.
Now that I'm in my fifties, it is 'what can ya do for me for the rest of my life?'.
The only answer that I can come up with is 'let's see how tonight goes, first!'.
Isn't it funny how men never change!

How Does It Feel?

How does it feel,
To be on your own,
With no direction Home,
Like a complete unknown,
Like a rolling stone?

I'm The Same Age As Lincoln (When He Died)

Since the audio to this Abraham Lincoln tribute was disabled, I have added a second video with sound to accompany it. Other than the fact that it is by Linkin Park and is about the approximate length, it has nothing to do with Lincoln at all. Of course you can read anything into everything. Listen to the lyrics as you read some of Lincoln's quotable quotes. The macabre may find a link. I did.
As always, click PLAY on both vids.

By the way, one of Lincoln's little known axioms was the following.

"Marry an ugly girl...she'll never leave you."

Throw The Bastards Out!

There is a discussion on another local blog concerning the pros and cons of an elected school board vs. an appointed school board. I am not smart enough to offer up some great panacea or cure all, but I will offer up this video from the movie, "Lean On Me".
Joe Clark was a man of conviction and was not afraid to speak his mind. Especially, when it was the truth!
The truth is that this town has become overrun with "bastards" and it is time to "throw them out".

If...

music is what feelings sound like (as my subtitle states), then Bruce Springsteen is the "unknown" author.

No other artist has touched me in his words and music as Bruce Springsteen has.
Growing up as some what of a loner, I found a kindred spirit in his music. He let me know that I was not the only one that felt the feelings of lost love, betrayal and the mundaneness of life in general.

I don't worry anymore about growing up, as I am now there. But, he did get me through some tough times back in the day.

The Lombardi Trophy.

I really want to cheer for one team this coming Sunday, but up until now I have not had a favorite. I actually like both of the teams. It is not like my team, the Redskins, are in it or their nemesis, the Cowboys. When I woke up this morning, I had found a team to cheer for.
Last night, I had a dream that showed the final score of this year's Super Bowl.

Green Bay Packers...31

Pittsburgh Steelers...20 something ( I saw either 22 or 28).

So now I have a team to pull for. I guess that you could call it my "Dream" team!
