OCCAM'S RAZOR

"Fanaticism and ignorance is forever busy and needs feeding".

The thing about organized religion is that some factions insist that you swallow the whole thing. Hook, line and sinker.
Last year, I went to a Pentecostal "day in the park" and had the argument about creationism and evolution with the people that invited me. They basically said that I was not "saved" if I did not envelop the belief that God created the Earth in six days.
I told them that I might as well leave, then.

On the wall of my front room is a portrait of my great-great grandfather. His name was Charles Darwin Meredith. I always was told and always believed that he was named after the author of "On the Origin of Species". However, after some research, I realized that Mr. Meredith was born 33 years before the book's publication.

Even though I was evidently not predisposed to my belief in evolution, I always tend to think that "the simplest explanation is usually the correct one".

Premeditated Mascoticide

The guy in the Ohio University "Bobcat" costume applied for the job of mascot for one reason only. He wanted to kick the shit out of "Brutus the Buckeye".
Now that's determination!

JIMI

Jimi Hendrix died 40 years ago today. Reports say he died of a drug overdose. If I recall, he died from asphixiation. He had too much alcohol and too much Seconal and aspirated vomit into his lungs. This is what I always thought, anyway.
Either way, my generation lost a good one that day.

Twirling, Twirling, Twirling Towards Freedom!!!: The Snarkiest Place on Earth, and Anger Ventilation

Since I am too dumb to re-link my daughter's blog on my blog, I ask any previous readers to bookmark her site and visit it often. She is writing again and I find that refreshing. I well know that certain circumstances in your life can sap all creativity and, even worse, self esteem. Also, if anyone knows how to link TTF, drop me a comment.

Some Things You Never Forget

What I remember most about going to see this movie with my daughter was the ending.

Us crying.

Brooks & Dunn Done!

After 20 years of performing and 23 #1 hits, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have called it quits. I actually got to see them at the Crisfield Country Music Festival, back in the early 1990's. This was during my "Country Music" stage. I had just gotten divorced and "all the songs" seemed SO relevant! What the hell was I thinking!!!
Actually, country music in the early 90s was pretty damn good. But that phenomenon did not last long.
Brooks and Dunn went out in their farewell concert last night by performing the first song that they ever sang together. I still consider it my favorite.
